Tempest celebrates 25th anniversary (1990-2015)
In 2006, Tempest clients wanted to grow their businesses by expanding their CRM databases. In order to do that, they would need to become better stewards of their data and use best practices for e-mail marketing. Tempest rose to the challenge by streamlining procedures and hosting systems to meet client needs and achieved the highest profitability in the firm’s history.

Tempest helped clients with their marketing campaign planning, management and communications. Most significantly, it gained the trust of its largest client to host and scale their e-mail marketing system to send over one million e-mails per year. Tempest staff kept their client’s database clean, researched bounced e-mails and added new decision-makers from Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) and Hoovers.
Best customers want to communicate with customers and prospects
Tempest continued to work with and acquire major clients in service industries: BDO USA, Brightline Technologies, HealthPlus of Michigan, Kelley Air Services and Michigan Shippers Supply, as well as manufacturers: ESPEC North America and IPC Print Services. It also began helping Grand Valley State University with SBA consulting and seminars.
These organizations looked to Tempest for e-mail marketing integrated with their CRM systems, e-mail list management and demographic enhancement and refreshment of their SQL databases, as well as help designing personalized HTML templates.
Segmentation and timing still critical for e-mail deliverability
According to Tempest’s largest client, they had grown their GoldMine database to include more than 100,000 executives’ names and e-mail addresses over four years. Tempest used MapView from W-Systems to geocode the database to identify drive-time-based groups for local seminars. At the peak, Tempest managed 109 targeted campaigns for webinars and seminars, alerts and industry research-based newsletters. In the end, Tempest was responsible for segmenting the database for the various events and campaigns and ensuring the timing of them did not overlap too much.
